MSC SURVEILLANCE AUDIT

An MSC Fisheries Certificate is valid for five years. Following successful certification, certified fisheries undertake annual surveillance audits to demonstrate continued compliance with the MSC Standard.

The annual surveillance audit focuses on o reviewing changes to fishery operations and management as well as progress against any conditions placed on the fishery. Where new information affecting performance indicators has been identified, traceability and rescoring will also be reviewed.

As is the case in an initial assessment, stakeholders are invited to provide information to the assessment team and may submit comments and/or attend the site visit. An audit report is published but there is no opportunity for comment.
